Ideal Candidate

Will I be happy working as a temp nurse? Will I get enough work? Am I a good candidate for temp nursing? Should I try it?

These are valid questions and concerns especially if you have never worked for an agency.

Associate Medical Professionals operates much like a hospital float pool except that we serve as an external float pool to a number of facilities. This means that availability, accessibility and flexibility are important factors to staying busy and satisfied.

Asking yourself these important questions will help you determine if there will be assignments for you, if you will be happy and even if the clients will like you!

  • Do you have 1 or more years recent general or specialty acute care experience in your classification?

Most assignments require 1 year of hospital experience. Our hospital clients expect us to assign a person who can adapt quickly with minimal orientation.

  • Are you able and willing to work at least 2 different shifts?

Availability for different shifts means more possibilities for assignments.

  • Are you available for assignment on weekends or at least three different weekdays?

Availability for different days as well as weekends also means more possibilities for assignments.

  • Are you willing to accept assignments at 2 or more locations?

Availability for different locations means more possibilities for assignments. In case of cancellation you can be reassigned to another location.

  • Are you readily accessible by phone, cell or pager?

A phone is a requirement because most of our assignments are made by phone. Quick contact increases the possibility of receiving ideal assignments.

  • Are you able to quickly adapt to various situations in the work place?

Quick adaptation to a new workplace will make you efficient and that will make you more comfortable regardless of where you work.

  • Do you like work variety?

Variety is built into each assignment. If change bothers you, this type of work will be difficult for you.

  • Have you or do you currently work for a temp agency, nurse travel agency, or hospital float pool?

If you work for a pool or temp agency, you already know what it will be like and will be less likely to be disappointed.

  • Are you confident in your nursing skills and able to convey that confidence to other professionals?

Confidence radiates outward to others you work with and makes them comfortable working with you.

  • Are you a friendly, diplomatic, team player?

Being a friendly person who is willing to help others endears to you to the people you work with. Diplomacy in difficult situations endears you to managers and supervisors.

  • Are you dependable and punctual?

Dependability and punctuality is required for all assignments.

  • Are you cooperative, willing to ask for help, and open to directives without hostility?

This is required because you may often be in unfamiliar places and circumstances.

  • Do you have ACLS, critical care or other specialty experience, but are also willing to work other areas if necessary?

Specialty experience and certifications may qualify you for assignments with specific requirements but being willing to float keeps you working if cancellations occur.

  • Are you an RN?

There is a shortage and RNs are in high demand!!

The more YES answers you gave, the more likely you are to succeed in temporary and float assignments. Success revolves around your abilities!!

Success = Capability, Flexibility and Availability!!
